Considering the action and the fast-paced narrative of the first two books, Two Dark Reigns was wholly average. However, I have to say it progressed too slowly for my liking.
Once I understood what was happening, I liked it.
Let it be known that I didn’t hate this book. It felt like the City of Fallen Angels of the Three Dark Crowns series. It felt like the third book in an extended series which had no true extension planned. Considering the 4.06 average star-rating on Goodreads, I assume I’m part of the minority who thought that Two Dark Reigns definitely felt like a book which wasn’t meant to exist. So it’s common knowledge that the Three Dark Crowns series was originally meant to be a duology until it was extended to a quartet.
